Creating the vinal record for album cover

1. I made a large black circle covering most of one section of the album cover

2. I added a smaller red circle in the center of the larger one.

3. Using the selection tool to prevent colour going outside the black circle I have added highlights of grey above and below the red circle.

4. Now using the radial blur tool, I can change the grey patches to blur around the circle.

5. The blur tool gives the image a 3D shine effect.

6. Finally, I change the opacity of the shine down and add some small extra details, including the artists name and album name.

Colour schemes for digipack

Here I have chosen a set of different colours which could work with my album cover and print advert. I decided to choose a mixture of both light and dark colours. I thought I would keep the colours fairly similar and quite close together on the colour wheel. I felt similar colours could give a particular mood towards the genre. For example, red and orange signifying danger or passion.

These are a selection of images I have considered to use for my digipack, I took these from the music video as well as taking pictures when we were filming.

Font styles for digipack

I have found a selection of different fonts to use for my digipack. I searched on the website dafont.com, where I found these styles which I feel are appealing to the genre of our chosen song and are similar to the font styles used on existing drum and bass albums.

Print research - Advert analysis

The purpose of this advert is to promote drum and bass as a more popular genre instead of a particular artist. The colours used are very bold and very strong as of no gradient used. The paint splashes are used to highlight the main images, as well as connoting a sense of chaos and mess which symbolizes the style of music, The center font for the words 'Drum and Bass' indicate the carnage of the music, shown by small pieces falling off the font style. The images are to connote the style of music so it can be recognized from a far distance.

The style of this print advert gives a very modern and high definition approach, trying to promote drum and bass as a new genre. The background is blurred out to only show the bright lights of the image, this is to clash with the title to make it stand out more. The circles are made from digital manipulation to give a sense of movement in the advert, portraying a busy atmosphere.

The prodigy - Invaders must die

The overall brand identity of this Digipack is kept quite simple, using minimal selection of colour which is very eye catching and bold. The fonts used connotes the style of music along with the name of the album cover 'Invaders must die' giving it an out of this world, alien like appearance. Again the use of florescent green connotes the same idea but making it stand out more. The same colour scheme is used throughout all of the Digipack, to match the pieces together. The colours are also connoting the style of music genre which is drum and bass, the green also reflects the typical location drum and bass is played such as clubs using bright lighting. Unlike other album covers,   there is no image which shows the artists, usually in this genre and other electric styles of music. Its mostly made up using technology and computers, where the star image isn't what the musics about.  

The yellow font overlapping the black and white image works well as it stands out from the entire side. The front image is quite unique which a close up of a bulldog as its eye catching and memorable. The font is kept quite simple but bold. The inside cover is built up of many images of the artist, possibly trying to connote that the music is more important than the star image. There is not a lot of artwork used, mainly photos in all of the sections, this could trying to connote what the style of music is all about, such as gigs, friends, festivals etc. The house style of this album cover is black and yellow, which reflects the message of danger, also as its opposing colour black helps it to stand out.  

Editing completed!

Our music video is finally finished! We have spent a lot of time making sure our video is in time with the music video such as the lip sinking and making sure the story is in order. I can now move onto designing and creating my digipack.

A change of casts

Unfortunatly two of our chosen actors for our music video are unable to help us film, due to other arrangements they had planned. We have decided to alter the video slightly keeping the same storyline but without introducing these characters. I feel that this will simplify the video and will give Nat (main character) and Sophie (singer) more time in the video.
